The core function of molecular sieves in air separation equipment is to selectively adsorb impurities such as moisture and carbon dioxide in the air. The inflow of water will have multiple serious impacts on its performance and the operation of the air separation unit. There are several measures for prevention and response, including the following aspects.
Optimization of operating standards, air cooling tower should be ventilated before water flow to avoid sudden pressure changes; Strictly control the amount and level of water spray to prevent liquid suspension; Regularly calibrate level gauges, pressure gauges, and other instruments to ensure accuracy.
Equipment renovation and upgrading, adding a water trap at the top of the air cooling tower to enhance gas-liquid separation; Install a drain valve at the lowest point of the air pipe entering the tower and regularly check the drainage situation; Add a dew point analyzer to the molecular sieve purification system to monitor moisture content in real-time.
Emergency response process, immediately stop the pump and drain the water upon discovering water ingress, and reduce air volume; Raise the regeneration temperature and extend the heating time, attempting to restore the performance of the molecular sieve; If the activation is ineffective, the molecular sieve needs to be replaced and the system sealing needs to be thoroughly checked.
