How to check the safety of small air separation unit before pressure testing?

Approved pressure test specifications and instructions or sketches are available at the test site.

For multi-pressure stage equipment, all manual and automatic valves are checked to be in the correct open/closed position.

All automatic valve operating mechanisms are adequately protected against overpressure.

Pressure tests requiring safety nets, safety shields or other restraints at specified safety distances.

Each pathway is equipped with a 1 . 5 to 3 times the pressure range and calibrated within the last 90 days.

All test pipes and joints are rated within the specified limits.

Each access road is equipped with a safety valve set at 5% of the pressure above the initial test pressure, which has been calibrated and complies with the requirements.

The safety valve is installed directly on the test bench or on the pipeline, and so that the manual valve between the test path and the safety valve is not restricted.

All test joints, test covers and blinds are appropriately rated for the pressure.

All changes in test pressure have been indicated on the test sketch or test instructions and signed off by the design

That the test plan is prepared in such a way of small air separation unit that only one access road is pressure tested at a time and that the sequence of tests begins with the highest pressure value.

The tests are carried out by air, or if not, all enclosed spaces are properly ventilated and the equipment and access to these spaces by employees has the necessary means of detection or there are measures to vent the test gases to the outside.

In the process of operation, especially in the start-up and shutdown of the air separation unit, one-way force should be avoided on the instrument. During the start-up of the equipment, close the high pressure and low pressure valves firstly, then open the balance valve, and then slowly open the high pressure (or low pressure) valve, so that the measured medium can enter the positive (negative) pressure chamber of the transmitter. If the liquid is to be measured, the gas in the positive (negative) pressure chamber should be discharged from the upper vent. If the gas is measured, drain the liquid accumulated in the positive (negative) pressure chamber from the lower drain screw hole.
