When the air cooling tower is put into use, pilot gas is required before starting the water pump. This is a measure to prevent air from carrying water. Because the pressure of the air inside the tower before inflation is atmospheric pressure, when high-pressure air with a pressure of about 0.5MPa (gauge pressure) is introduced into the tower, due to the expansion of the volume, the pressure will suddenly decrease, and the airflow speed will sharply increase. Its impact and entrainment effect is strong. At this point, if the cooling water has already been sprayed, it is easy for the air to carry water when leaving the cooling tower. Therefore, it is required to inflate the tower first, and then start the water pump to supply water and spray after the pressure increases and the airflow stabilizes.
Furthermore, if the water pump is turned on first, it is easy to cause the water level in the air cooling tower to be too high, even exceeding the elevation of the air inlet pipe, which increases the resistance of the air compressor outlet pipeline and causes the turbine air compressor to surge. Some equipment require that the circulating water pump can only be started after the pressure inside the air cooling tower exceeds 0.35MPa (gauge pressure). When the pressure drops below this value during operation, the water pump will automatically stop.
