Why does the liquid air level and liquid oxygen level rise when the air separation equipment is temporarily stopped

During normal operation, the rising steam has a certain speed when passing through the small hole, which can hold the liquid on the fractionator tray, prevent the liquid from leaking from the small hole, and can only flow along the tray, and then flow to the next tray through the overflow bucket. After parking, due to the interruption of the rising steam, the liquid on the tray loses the support of the rising steam and flows sequentially from the sieve holes of each tray to the bottom, accumulating in the condensate evaporator and liquid kettle. Therefore, during temporary parking, the liquid oxygen and liquid air levels will rise, even exceeding the position of the expansion air and oxygen outlet pipe, which can easily cause accidents of expansion machine carrying liquid or switching heat exchanger cold end carrying liquid during restarting.

Therefore, when temporarily stopping the air separation equipment, attention should be paid to the liquid level position, and if necessary, some liquid can be discharged.

Over the years of operation, DEAR Air Separation has not only been committed to providing high-quality complete sets of air separation equipment to domestic and international customers, but also long-term services such as air separation equipment maintenance, energy conservation, intelligent upgrading and transformation. As of now, the company has undertaken the maintenance business of over 100 sets of air separation equipment, and has completed energy-saving and intelligent transformation of multiple sets of air separation equipment.

In the main column of the air separation column, the distribution of argon varies with the position of the liquid air inlet. With the increase of liquid air inlet position, the maximum concentration of argon enrichment zone in the stripping section also increases, and the nitrogen content in the distillate can be reduced. However, the argon content in the downstream also increases. In order to ensure the purity of oxygen, more trays are needed under the extraction port of argon fraction. Therefore, in the case of producing argon, the position of liquid air supply E1 should be appropriately increased compared with the case of not producing argon. Some unit is equipped with two liquid air inlet positions to meet the conditions of argon production and non argon production respectively. In the production of argon, in order to improve the extraction rate of argon, the content of argon in oxygen and nitrogen must be reduced. When the content of argon in exhaust nitrogen is more than 0.3%
