Up to now, the iron and steel making process in the iron and steel industry is a relatively stable user of oxygen. Application of oxygen in iron and steel industry:

1. Oxygen top blown converter steelmaking: oxygen top blown converter steelmaking is characterized by short smelting cycle, large output and low energy consumption, and the oxygen consumption per ton of steel for top blown converter steelmaking is 50~60Nm ³。

2. Blast furnace oxygen enriched blast ironmaking: blast furnace oxygen enriched blast ironmaking can improve furnace temperature, reduce coke ratio and increase output. When the oxygen content in blast furnace increases by 1%, the iron output will increase by 4-6% and the coke ratio will decrease by 5-6%. The oxygen consumption per ton of iron is 45Nm when oxygen enrichment is 3-4% ³。

3. Electric furnace steelmaking: electric furnace oxygen blowing steelmaking can shorten melting time, reduce heat loss and reduce unit power consumption. 1 m oxygen blowing per ton of steel ³ It can save electricity by 5kWh, and the oxygen consumption per ton of steel for electric furnace steelmaking is 55~65Nm ³。

4. Smelting reduction iron making: this is a new iron making process, which replaces the three-stage production process of sintering, coking and blast furnace, and can reduce production costs and pollution, but the oxygen consumption per ton of iron is up to 530~550Nm ³, It is 10 times of that of oxygen top blown converter.

5. Steel processing: during steel processing, continuous casting flame cutting, cleaning, etc., the oxygen consumption per ton of steel is 10~12Nm ³。

DEAR Air Separation is specialized in R&D, manufacturing and installation of various complete sets of air separation equipment. High quality requirements will fully play a role in the demand for air separation equipment in the steel industry.

Lean alloy steel is often used in special pressure-bearing equipment. The alloying elements often added include manganese, silicon, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, vanadium, boron and rare earth elements. Most of silicon and manganese melt into ferrite, only a small amount into cementite, which are commonly used strengthening elements in lean alloy steel. The amount of chromium and nickel is generally small, and the main role of chromium and nickel is to increase the undercooling degree of austenite and refine the microstructure. Part of chromium is dissolved in ferrite and some in cementite, which can improve the stability of cementite. Molybdenum is dissolved in ferrite slightly, and has the effect of solid solution strengthening. It is a strong carbide forming element, which can improve the high temperature strength of steel and improve the temper brittleness.
