What measures should be taken in case of failure of booster turbine expander of air separation unit

When the alarm device of the booster turbine expander of the air separation unit rings, it is the signal of the failure of the booster turbine expander. Consequences: the pressure of the processing air increases, affecting the operation of the air turbine compressor, and the liquid level of the main condensing evaporator decreases, resulting in a decrease in output.

Emergency measures shall be taken in case of failure of booster turbine expander of air separation unit:

Start the standby booster turbine expander; Adjust the discharge pressure of the booster compressor to stabilize the discharge pressure of the booster compressor, check the purity of the product gas, reduce the product volume, reduce the liquid discharge volume, or stop completely if necessary.

Further measures: eliminate the fault immediately; Adjust the air volume and output to normal values.

The common failure of booster turbine expander is the blockage caused by ice and dry ice, which requires heating. As for other faults, the causes should be found out and eliminated according to the regulations on the use and maintenance of booster turbine expander.
