Steps to start the booster turbine expander for liquid air separation plants.
- Prepare the booster turbine expander for start-up in accordance with the requirements.
- The compressed air enters the lower tower in liquid air separation plant.
- High pressure air pressurised by the booster end of the booster turbine expander in liquid air separation plant, then cooled and throttled by the main heat exchanger into the lower tower; maintaining a lower tower pressure of around 0.35 MPa.
- The pressurised air (drawn from the middle of the main heat exchanger) going to the expander.
- Start the pressurised turbine expander and bring it gradually to full capacity operation.
- Pay attention to the speed of the expander and the air flow at the booster end during the opening of the expander nozzle, the air flow at the booster end can be adjusted by means of a valve.
- Keep the discharge pressure of the booster compressor stable.
- Disconnect and deactivate the backup instrument air source provided by the user and use the instrument air from the set itself instead.
- Adjustment of valves. All valve adjustments should be carried out step by step and slowly, when each operation has achieved the desired effect, before carrying out the next valve adjustment, do not operate too hard and too fast.
- Temperature control. Main heat exchanger group hot end temperature difference should be controlled within 3 ~ 3.5 ℃.
- The inlet temperature of the expander is controlled above -105°C to keep the booster expander running at high load.
DEAR Air Separation manufactures complete sets of small air separation units, large air separation units and liquid air separation plants and has had technical studies for many years to ensure safe and stable operation of the small air separation unit, large air separation unit and liquid air separation plant start-up.
