Being neither supercilious nor supercilious is the premise of doing things; being neither supercilious nor supercilious is the expression of self-confidence. A person who lacks self-confidence is not only unable to accomplish big and difficult things, but also difficult to handle small things well. No humbleness means no humbleness, making a look of pleasing and pleasing, which is harmful to personality; not high, is not arrogant, not to be the boss. Arrogant and self-respect is superior to others, which will definitely arouse others' antipathy. No matter who you are looking for to handle affairs, no matter the status, qualifications, conditions and knowledge of the other party, you should follow the principles of not being humble, enthusiastic and modest. Only being neither humble nor supercilious can you be respected by others.
It is not easy to be neither humble nor supercilious. Generally speaking, when people associate with people with the same status and talent, most of them can be calm and right, talking and laughing freely. The friendship is shallow, say hello to each other when meeting, polite and gentle; the affectionate, when you meet, you will be gentle to me, and I will be silent to you. At this time, everyone can be praised as "neither humble nor high. However, if you change the contact with people with different identities and status, some people will not be able to take it easy and feel more uneasy. The "humble" and "high", because of the difference of identity and status of the other side, are clearly expressed in words and deeds and written on the face. People like to communicate with each other under the condition of equality. If there is a distance between people or even a gap of interpersonal communication due to "inferiority" or "exaltation, it is very difficult for you to become a successful person. Therefore, no matter who you face, whether his identity is "high" or "low", you must treat him equally, neither humiliation nor arrogance.
Su Dongpo once said such a sentence, "I can accompany the Jade Emperor, and I can accompany the beggar in the Peitian Courtyard". It can be seen that in Su Shi's eyes, the status of the Jade Emperor is the same as that of the beggar in the Peitian courtyard, no one is higher than anyone, no one is lower than anyone. Even the Jade Emperor and the beggar in Butian court have equal status. As ordinary people, we are really not qualified to laugh at and deny others with arrogant expressions.
Respect is a kind of self-cultivation of being a person, a kind of character, a kind of equal attitude of being neither humble nor overcautious, and also a full affirmation of others' personality and value. Therefore, we must put aside the arrogant attitude and walk down from a high place. This is not only the respect for others, but also the respect for ourselves.
