The internal compression equipment is installed inside the air separation equipment, occupying a relatively small area, directly compressing gas, and the process is relatively simple; Direct compression of gas without the need for additional media, suitable for situations with high requirements for gas purity; The pressure range of equipment is usually limited by the pressure at its location, but it can generally meet the needs of air separation or gas liquefaction; Usually installed in air separation equipment, it is used to compress oxygen, nitrogen, rare gases, etc., with relatively specific but wide applications; Under specific conditions, the energy consumption of the internal compression process may be lower than that of the external compression process. In addition, the booster and liquid oxygen pump equipment in the internal compression process are relatively simple and easy to operate, which is conducive to reducing energy consumption. At higher liquid oxygen pressures, the internal compression process has higher safety and reliability. The equipment investment for the internal compression process is relatively low, and the ability to produce liquid products is relatively strong. Moreover, due to the backup liquid oxygen pump, it can ensure the continuity of normal oxygen supply.
The installation of external compression equipment is usually located outside the air separation equipment, occupying relatively large space and equipment configuration. During the compression process, medium assisted compression may be required, which may limit the compression of certain gases. In some cases, the energy consumption of the external compression process may be high. However, external compression equipment is relatively energy-efficient in pressure regulation operations, and due to its wide range of applications and high stability, its overall efficiency is also relatively high. The external compression process turbine oxygen compressor has high technical requirements, strict material requirements, and precise and complex control system requirements, so the equipment investment is relatively high.

The principle of expander with motor brake in air separation plant is to control the speed of expander by braking torque generated by motor generator braking state. Once the brake motor fails, the expander speed will lose control and overspeed will occur. At this time, it is necessary to automatically open the protection and control system. The principle is that the speed measuring motor will send out the overspeed signal to cut off the three-way solenoid valve. The three-way solenoid valve directly controls the air open pneumatic butterfly valve at the inlet of the expander, so that the butterfly valve is quickly closed and the air inlet is cut off. At the same time, the rotation of the valve rod touches the stop and limit switch, so that the power supply of the expander motor is cut off and the safe shutdown is realized.
