In small air separation units and large air separation units, the purification system is an important part when separating oxygen, nitrogen and argon from air. The purification system commonly uses molecular sieve adsorbent to adsorb moisture, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons, etc. in the air. The molecular sieve purification system plays an important role in the air separation equipment process to ensure safety.
The molecular sieve purification system is generally composed of adsorber, electric heater, pipeline, valve, instrument and electric control. The adsorber is filled with molecular sieve, activated alumina and other adsorbents to remove carbon dioxide, water and some hydrocarbons in the air. The adsorbers of molecular sieve purification system generally use two adsorbers to switch. After the adsorption saturation of one adsorber, the other regenerated adsorber is put into use. After the adsorption saturation, the adsorbent loses its ability to continue adsorption and should be regenerated before use. Regeneration process is the reverse process of adsorption ---- desorption. That is, the adsorbed water, carbon dioxide, acetylene and some other hydrocarbons through the dirty nitrogen gas discharge and then continue to use.
