The advantage of using this process design is that the nitrogen cycle compressor and the medium/high/ultra-high pressure product nitrogen press are combined into one machine, eliminating the need to use multiple product nitrogen presses. Due to the high nitrogen to oxygen ratio, a portion of the nitrogen must be extracted from the top of the low pressure tower to make up the nitrogen cycle compressor. This make-up compressor is also combined with the low-pressure/low-pressure product nitrogen press.

Due to the highly targeted and optimized design, this liquid air separation plant uses only two nitrogen compressors to solve the oxygen in-compression process required for the production of cold volume, pressure liquid oxygen reheat and five different pressure nitrogen products, simplifying the process and saving equipment investment. It is worthy of being a very classic process design.

Special pressure-bearing equipment generally bears internal pressure, that will cause tensile stress inside the shell, which is called working stress. The working stress is directly proportional to the pressure and diameter, and inversely proportional to the vessel wall thickness. The axial stress is half of the circumferential stress. Therefore, for cylindrical vessels, the stress of longitudinal weld is twice that of girth weld. Because the geometric shape of the spherical shell is symmetrical to the spherical center, and the axial stress is equal to the circumferential stress in numerical value.
