The small air separation units, large air separation units and liquid air separation plants use ambient temperature molecular sieve adsorption purification, pressurized turbine expander cooling, liquid oxygen evaporator pressurization, gauge packing distillation, and DCS system control of the self-pressurization process. All systems are operating normally. The regenerated molecular sieves were not thoroughly regenerated and a vicious cycle occurred, increasing operating costs and risks.

Operation after inspection

When the purification system was restarted after the overhaul, the running time of the purifier became shorter and worse than before the overhaul. This was because the molecular sieve at the bottom of the purifier had not been completely regenerated and had been at the bottom of the purifier for a long time. After one cycle of operation the purifier switching time increased. After one cycle of high temperature activation, the purifier switching time slowly increased and the design requirements were met.

The handling of the molecular sieve CO2 overload incident allowed the process personnel to gain operational experience and experience in handling similar incidents. The experience gained has to deal with the problem as soon as possible (in case of leakage, the leaking part cannot be activated and a long time will render it ineffective). In particular, in the case of leaks, the plan must be perfect: prepare the number of raking out tools, filling bags, silk screens for patching leaks, etc. After the inspection, the initial stage of operation, if the effect is not good, you need to analyse the reasons again.
