It is recommended to degrease aluminium parts (pressure vessels, valves, pipelines) with perchloroethylene or trichloroethylene solvents, and carbon tetrachloride (CC14) solvents are strictly prohibited. The solvent must be oil-free and degreased, and decomposed solutions are not allowed. Organic solutions are not suitable for assemblies with rubber, plastic or organic coatings. Organic solvents are toxic and flammable and should be used with care.
In addition to using the above degreasing solution for degreasing, other methods are available for degreasing such as alkali washing, the process needs to prevent metal rusting caused by too high a concentration of alkali solution. After degreasing the pipe, it is advisable to weld within 24h and to prevent secondary pollution. The cleanliness of the degreasing can be checked visually and qualitatively with a UV lamp or by other methods.
External carbon steel oxygen pipes, valves and all other parts in contact with oxygen must be strictly descaled and degreased before installation and use, either by sandblasting (quartz sand only), pickling or carbon tetrachloride and other highly effective non-combustible detergents. After descaling and degreasing the pipes should be immediately passivated or filled with dry nitrogen.
