First of all, it completely conforms to the general principle of distillation organization and simplifies the organization of air separation distillation. Secondly, after the air separation distillation is organized in this way, the argon component in the air is almost completely in the oxygen argon mixture at the bottom of the air separation column, which is greatly conducive to the improvement of nitrogen product purity. Third, it creates favorable conditions for further improving the purity of oxygen products. At present, the purity of oxygen products is generally about 99.6%, which is very difficult to further improve. The reason is that the number of theoretical plates that can be used for oxygen argon separation in air separation tower is not very many, and the gas-liquid ratio is basically fixed. However, these limitations do not exist in the crude argon distillation column. Fourth, the energy consumption of the air separation column can be greatly reduced. After adopting this technical scheme, because there is no so-called nitrogen resistance problem, the nitrogen content in the oxygen argon mixture can be relaxed to less than 5%.

 

The energy consumption of distillation separation with 4-5% argon fraction as raw gas of crude argon distillation column is higher than that with 10% argon fraction as raw material, but it is very favorable compared with the energy consumption of air separation column.
