When the air volume decreases, both the rising steam volume and the recirculation fluid volume in the tower decrease, but the recirculation ratio can remain unchanged. Under normal circumstances, it has little effect on the purity of oxygen and nitrogen products. According to the material balance, if the processing air volume reduces hours, the output of oxygen and nitrogen will decrease accordingly.
When the gas volume decreases, the velocity of vapour decreases, so does the liquid volume on the tower plate and the liquid layer thins, so the resistance of the tower plate decreases. Meanwhile, due to the reduction of main cold and heat load, the heat transfer area is rich and the heat transfer temperature difference can also be reduced. These influences will help to reduce the pressure of the upper and lower towers.
When the gas volume decreases too much, the liquid on the sieve hole may not be held due to the low gas speed, and the liquid will leak directly from the sieve hole, resulting in the leakage phenomenon. The liquid leaked below is not in full contact with vapour, and part of it is not fully evaporated and the nitrogen concentration is relatively high. This will greatly reduce the rectification effect, affect the purity of oxygen and nitrogen of the product, and even can not maintain normal production in serious cases. Therefore, the minimum load value is allowed for the distillation column, which is related to the structural type of the tower plate and the selection of parameters during the design.
