The content of oxygen in liquid and liquid in the air separation plant is high, which will cause the increase of oxygen concentration in local range after evaporating in the air. If there is fire, there is a danger of burning and explosion. A fertilizer plant once had an explosion accident that hurt people because a large amount of liquid oxygen was discharged into the trench, and it also encountered electric welding sparks. Therefore, it is strictly prohibited to discharge the liquid into the trench at will, and it should be discharged into the liquid steam tank or the special low temperature resistant metal discharge pit through the pipeline.
The discharge pits should be kept clean regularly, and organic matters or oil deposits are strictly prohibited. When discharging liquid, fire is forbidden around.
Low temperature liquid contacting with skin will cause severe frostbite. If it is light, the skin will form blisters, red and swollen, which will cause pain; if it is severe, it will freeze the internal tissues and bone joints. If it falls into eyes, it will cause eye damage. Therefore, avoid touching the liquid directly with hands when discharging the liquid, and wear dry cotton gloves and protective glasses when necessary. In case of touching the skin, wash it with warm water (below 45℃) immediately.
